Introducing "CaptAIn Bookworm"

At Big Techday 26, we showcased more than 35 exhibits. One of them was our AI‑powered story generator “CaptAIn Bookworm”. CaptAIn Bookworm turns a simple idea into a fully personalized, illustrated, and narrated children's book by leveraging several leading AI models. Our workflow includes three steps:

• Writing: Based on user input and the child’s age, an AI model plans the overall story, the characters, and the structure of the book – from simple, repetitive tales for toddlers to richer stories with twists and humor for older kids. Of course, we make sure to keep every story kind and age-appropriate using a built-in safety check.

• Illustration: For each page, the AI first writes a detailed visual description of the scene, which is then handed to an image model to create the picture. Each illustration references the previous one, so the characters and the overall look stay consistent from the cover to the final page.

• Narration: Finally, we use a text-to-speech AI model to read the text in a natural voice, so users can also listen to the book while reading it.
